About roof waterproofing

Can a roof be coated without stripping?
Often, if the existing surface is sound and bonded. The decision is made by the survey, not by preference — coating over a debonded layer puts a new system on a failing one.
What about a metal sheet roof?
Different problem entirely. Leaks come from corroded fastener points and open lap joints, not from the sheet itself. Fastener capping plus a reinforced coating over laps and gutters is the usual system.
