About modern tv unit
The current language is a floating console, a fluted or slatted back panel, concealed backlighting and a minimum of visible hardware. It suits Mumbai living rooms because it keeps the floor clear, which makes a small room read larger.
The structural question comes first. A floating unit transfers everything — its own weight, the television, and whatever gets stacked on it — into the wall. On a 4-inch partition wall, which many flats have, that needs reinforcement or the unit has to take its load to the floor.

Modern TV Unit — questions
Can a floating unit go on any wall?
No. It transfers its full load into the wall, and many Mumbai flats have 4-inch brick or block partitions that will not hold a cantilevered unit plus a television over time. We sound the wall at the site visit. Where it is a partition, we either fix back to the structural slab or design the unit to take its load to the floor.
Is fluting a trend that will date?
Probably, in the same way that every strong visual language does. The practical mitigation is to flute a panel that can be refaced rather than building it into the carcass, so it can be changed in a few years without rebuilding the unit.
Where does the backlight driver go?
In an accessible compartment, never sealed behind the panel. Drivers fail — usually before the LED strip does — and one buried behind a fixed panel means cutting the panel open to replace a part that costs very little.
