Electrical Contractors in Mumbai
Most Mumbai flats built before 1995 were wired for a fan, a tube light and a television. Then we added four air conditioners.

What electrical contractor actually involves
Electrical work is the part of a renovation that nobody wants to pay for, because when it is done well there is nothing to look at. The visible outcome of a good rewire is identical to the visible outcome of a bad one.
The difference shows up as a tripping MCB, a warm switch plate, or a socket that browns around the pin holes. In older Mumbai flats the usual culprit is aluminium wiring sized for a 1985 load, feeding appliances that did not exist then. That is not a maintenance issue, it is a capacity issue, and adding another extension board makes it worse.
Our approach
We calculate the actual connected load before specifying anything — every AC, geyser, hob, oven, pump and lighting circuit added up, with diversity applied. From that we size the incoming cable and the distribution board, and split the circuits so that high-draw appliances are not sharing. All wiring is ISI-marked copper in concealed conduit. Every DB gets an RCCB, and every circuit is tested and recorded before the walls close.
Common problems we are called for
- MCB tripping whenever the AC and the microwave run together
- Aluminium wiring from the original construction, feeding a modern appliance load
- Switch plates warm to the touch — a sign of a loose or undersized connection
- No RCCB on the board, so there is no earth leakage protection at all
- Extension boards daisy-chained because there were never enough points
What you get from doing this properly
Load calculated, not guessed
Every appliance added up with diversity applied before the DB is sized.
Copper, ISI marked
No aluminium, no unbranded wire. Brand and gauge named in the quotation.
RCCB as standard
Earth leakage protection on every board we install, not as an optional extra.
Circuits tested and logged
Continuity, insulation and earth tested and recorded before anything is concealed.
How we run a electrical contractor project
Free site visit
Existing DB inspected, wiring material identified, points counted and condition assessed.
Load calculation
Every appliance listed and totalled with diversity, to size the cable and the board.
Circuit plan
Separate circuits for AC, kitchen, geyser and lighting, drawn before any chasing starts.
Itemised quotation
Points, circuits, DB, wire brand and gauge, and switch range each priced separately.
Chasing, conduit and wiring
Concealed conduit laid, copper drawn, every circuit tested before plastering.
DB, testing and handover
Board installed with RCCB, full test results recorded and handed over with the circuit chart.
What goes into the specification
We name every material by type and grade in the quotation, and hand over documentation at completion. No unbranded line items.
A full rewire is often not needed
If the existing wiring is copper and in reasonable condition, adding a few dedicated circuits and upgrading the distribution board can solve the problem for a fraction of a full rewire. We check what is actually in the wall at the site visit. If it is aluminium, we will tell you plainly that patching it is not a safe economy.

House Wiring
Wiring is sized from the load, and the load is something you add up rather than estimate.

The board was tripping every evening and two electricians had just reset it. SpaceCrafta added up the actual load, showed me the board was undersized, and split the AC circuits. It has not tripped since.
Arvind Kulkarni3BHK, Mulund WestElectrical Contractor — frequently asked questions
How do I know if my flat needs rewiring?
Three signs matter: aluminium wiring rather than copper, which in Mumbai usually means pre-1995 construction; MCBs that trip when two appliances run together; and any switch plate or socket that is warm to the touch or discoloured. Any of those warrants an inspection. We check the wire material at the site visit, which settles most of it immediately.
Can rewiring be done without breaking the walls?
Partly. Where existing conduit is intact and large enough, new wire can often be drawn through it without chasing. Where conduit is undersized, blocked or absent, chasing is unavoidable. We check what is there during the survey and tell you honestly how much of the flat will need to be opened.
How long does a 2BHK rewire take?
Ten to fifteen working days including chasing, wiring, testing and making good the plaster. It is disruptive work — dust and noise — and it is best sequenced before any painting or carpentry.
Do you provide a test certificate?
We hand over recorded test results for continuity, insulation resistance and earth, along with a circuit chart fixed inside the distribution board. For work requiring a licensed contractor's certification for society or utility purposes, that is issued by the licensed electrical contractor on the job.
Can you add points without rewiring everything?
Yes, provided the existing circuit and board have the capacity — which is exactly what the load calculation establishes. Adding points to an already-loaded circuit is how boards start tripping, so the calculation is not a formality.
