Seepage is a symptom. Treating the wall without finding the source is the most common waste of money in building repair.

About seepage treatment
We trace where the water is coming from — an external wall, a bathroom on the other side, a leak from the flat above, or rising damp — before specifying anything. Surface treatment applied to a wall that is still being fed will fail, usually within one season.

Seepage Treatment — questions
Why does my damp patch keep coming back?
Because the source has not been closed. The patch is where water emerges, not where it enters — often a different wall or a different flat. Until the entry point is sealed, any surface treatment is temporary.
How long before I can paint?
Two to four weeks after the source is sealed, so the wall can dry. Painting a wall that still holds moisture traps it, and the finish flakes within months.
Other waterproofing services
Terrace Waterproofing
A terrace leak is rarely above the stain. Water travels sideways under a failed screed before it drops.

A basement deals with water under pressure, which is a fundamentally different problem from rain landing on a roof.

In Mumbai more water enters through the walls than through the roof, because the rain arrives sideways.
